12/31/11 - Geotech Completes Large Data Loading Project

After trying for a while, and challenged by too much to do and staff changes, a big-city office of one of the largest environmental consulting company clients turned to Geotech to get their database system up and running. The project was a very large industrial facility with over 25 years of data of many different kinds. Some parts of their data had been migrated to Enviro Data in SQL Server two years ago. Other parts were in a different commercial software package that they were phasing out. And some of the data was in lab files that had been modified by their data validators. They also had dozens of files of station data (soil borings, monitoring wells, etc.) and parameter and method lists. They sent Geotech a CD with all of these data sets. Geotech did an inventory, and then proceeded to import the data, first the stations and parameters, and then the data. The end result was a database with almost 10,000 stations, 1000 parameters, and 2,000,000 result records. The project took about two weeks of Geotech staff time. We are now going through a final cleanup, primarily fixing duplicated stations and parameters and setting up station groups, and then the client will be able to use the database to make project decisions, something they have been trying for years to accomplish.

12/27/11 - Selected New Features in Enviro Data version 2010D

After the great response to the 2010 C release, Geotech has not been sitting still. We’re now working on the 2010 D release with many other useful features. One will be an addition to the Crosstab Wizard to calculate statistics on the data in the spreadsheet. We will be enhancing this feature further in future releases.

A useful feature for users with a lot of data files to import will be the multi-file import. You set up an inbox of files to be imported, and an outbox of files you have imported. Enviro Data scans your inbox and lists the files it finds, including the Enviro Data DTS format name for those in one of those formats. You can then mark the files you want to import, and it will import them as a batch. All of the existing import checking and cleanup tools still apply. Then Enviro Data can move the processed files to the outbox if you wish.

Recently Geotech has been doing a number of large data loading projects for clients. In working with these large data sets, we have identified and changed a number of things in Enviro Data. One is the multi-file import above. Another is a set of changes to some of the queries run by the Import Wizard. These queries significantly speed up some particular situations, such as missing data like sample dates and depths, and missing lookup table values. These changes are particularly noticeable with large server databases.

12/17/11 - In-depth Training and Consulting for Indian Tribal Client

Russ Wendell, Geotech’s lead software developer, has worked very closely for over nine years now with one of our Indian Tribal clients in New Mexico.  At the client’s request, this past week Russ helped the tribe with their lab data, installed validation software modifications, assisted them with interfacing the Enviro software with their field equipment, and configured calculations for dose assessment for radioactive exposure.  The tribe was very pleased with both the training and the consulting that Russ provided and has asked him to return soon to provide more.

12/13/11 - Christmas Dinner at Helga’s

This year, Geotech treated its staff to a delightful Christmas dinner at Helga’s German Restaurant and Deli.  All the staff and their significant others joined the festivities.  The three-hour repast began with tantalizing appetizers such as potato pancakes with apple sauce, Pfalzer pretzels, a bratwurst sampler, and schnitzel fingers.  Many of us enjoyed their authentic German beers throughout our meal, such as Warsteiner Pilsner, Kostritzer black lager, and Oktoberfest, to name just a few.  Some of the delectable entrees chosen by our group were Thuringer brats with German style mustard, Beef sauerbraten, Veal bratwurst, and Helga’s schnitzel.  Throughout our celebration we were serenaded by a strolling minstrel alternating between German tunes and Christmas carols, played on his accordion.  Far too full for dessert, but having too good of a time to end the evening, several of us indulged in the German cheesecake, Strudels, and Black forest torte.  A wonderful time was had by all!

12/5/12 - Three New Clients

Three very unique clients joined the Enviro Software users family this month.  The first is the Environmental Quality Commission for two Indian tribes in Wyoming, which jointly manage the natural resources of their reservation, including the river that runs through their 3,500 square miles of Indian land.  The Commission strongly believes that their cultural, spiritual and economic values should guide the use, management and protection of their natural resources, and are now successfully using the Enviro Software to help them achieve these goals.  The second new client is a Chinese construction engineering group that does environmental remediation work.  Before this sale, Dave did a demo for nine of the employees in this company, and afterwards one of them told Dave that “it knocked them out of their chairs”, they were so impressed.  They are now using the Enviro software for their internal use, but are also interested in becoming a supporting dealer in China.  Our third new client this month is an environmental consulting firm on the US east coast.  This company was founded in 1986 and covers a wide variety of environmental services such as LSRP, groundwater remediation, brownfield redevelopment, and much more.  The family of satisfied Enviro software users continues to grow!

11/17/11 - Water Quality Conference attended by Geotech

Mike Rich, Geotech’s Sales Director, attended the National Tribal Water Quality Conference near Santa Fe, NM this month.  The conference was held at the Buffalo Thunder Hotel, and was hosted by the USEPA and the Pueblo of Pojoaque.  Mike staffed our Vendor Booth at this show, and while there he was able to demonstrate our Enviro software, especially our WQX tool, to many of the 300 Tribal attendees from across the country.  Mike also met up with a number of current Enviro Data Tribal users at this show.

11/12/11 - New Consultant Joins the Geotech Service Team

Catherine Drumheller recently became a part of the Geotech team to help with numerous Enviro Data data loading projects for our clients.  She will also be a part of Geotech’s support team.  Catherine became an Enviro software user eight years ago, when she was employed by a large environmental consulting firm that purchased the Enviro software.  Over the years she has become very proficient with the software, and enjoys working with clients and their data.  An excellent combination for Geotech and their clients.  Welcome aboard, Catherine!

11/8/11 - Geotech Lands Two New Clients

Geotech added two new clients to its Enviro software users list this month: the first is a successful engineering and design firm founded in 1956, that has more than 600 employees and 20 offices.  They offer consulting services in water/wastewater, water resources, environmental resources and compliance, and geotechnical.  The second new client is a multidisciplinary environmental investigation and remediation firm headquartered in the Midwest.  Their headquarters sits on one of their own brownfields sites, and they boast of many highly trained professionals such as Licensed Professional Geologists, Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, Toxicologists, and many more.  Both new clients are looking forward to corporate implementations of the Enviro software in their companies soon.

11/5/11 - Geotech Introduces WQX

Geotech proudly announces its Enviro Data software tool that helps clients gather, organize and submit their water data to the WQX framework for the USEPA.  There are several steps in this process: 1) Set up your database; 2) Plan your field events; 3) Create your container labels and chains of custody; 4) Take field measurements and collect samples; 5) Aggregate the data, then import into your database; 6) Perform quality control; 7) Export location data into the WQX spreadsheet, then export and upload to the EPA; 8) Set up your project on the WQX website; 9) Select data to upload and add it to the spreadsheet, then create the upload file for WQX; 10) Create other output as necessary; 11) Display your data on GIS maps.  For further information on Enviro Data and the WQX, please contact Geotech at 877-740-1999 (Toll-Free) or email us at info@geotech.com.

11/3/11 - More Enviro Software training

The month of November started off with two client Enviro software trainings:  Russ Wendell taught a two-day training class to a new engineering client on the East coast, and Dave Rich provided an Enviro software training to one of our many Indian tribal clients, this one in New Mexico.  Russ had his second training trip of the month, this one to another Indian tribal client in New Mexico.   Geotech’s Enviro software training is very in-depth.  It is usually one to two days of lecture and hands-on learning, and also includes our comprehensive 200 page training manual.  We can train using generic data or our clients’ data, whichever they prefer.  And we are always happy to answer client questions, during the training sessions, and in the months that follow.  Our goal is satisfied, successful users!

10/22/11 - Geotech Attends UMass Conference

Geotech again attended the Annual International Conference on Soils, Sediments, Water, and Energy in Amherst, MA, Oct. 17 – 20.  This year Geotech participated in the MECX “Remediation Partners Consortium”, which included sharing a booth with all the MECX partners, giving a talk, and attending the Remediation Partners Business Meeting.  MECX speakers filled Session 3 of the presentations, and the title of this session was “International Remediation & Sustainable Energy Solutions”.  Geotech’s President, Dr. Dave Rich, gave a talk titled, “Soil Chemistry Data from the Field to the Map – Saving Time and Improving Quality.”  A few of the other talks in this session were “Geothermal Sustainable Energy Solutions”, and “Innovative Soils/Sediments Treatment Processing Technologies”. Geotech was pleased to partner with MECX, and is planning partnerships with them in a number of future environmental conferences and training classes.

10/21/11 - New Enviro Features Thrilling Users

One of our Environmental Consulting/Remediation clients based in Oklahoma, has been using the Enviro Software for almost four years now, and is very pleased with the new Enviro Data Scribe export.  One of this company’s users emailed us with her comments about the 2011C software version: “Thanks for checking in, Mike. We’re doing well; about half the heavy users have downloaded 2011C.  Great timing, too, as I literally just had a request from USEPA for a huge database in SCRIBE format.  The new export is really helpful!”

Another user, with an environmental consulting company with 50 offices in the U.S. and locations throughout the world, and a staff of over 800 employees, praised our new Crosstab Wizard feature.  He emailed, “I have to say, I’m quite thrilled with this right now.  I was anticipating doing a lot of this via coding.  This is great!”

10/15/11 - More Industry Partners

In mid-October, the President and the CEO of Geotech, had a very nice lunch meeting with the President, and long-time friend, of a very large Australian software company.  This Australian company sells environmental software, but not for data management, therefore we are all very interested in discussing how our two companies could cooperate.  Meetings will be on-going to discuss  how we can offer a better solution to our common environmental clients.

10/8/11 - Enviro Software Maintenance - Users & Definition - Expanding

The number of Enviro Software maintenance users is growing every year, and Geotech believes this is not only due to the technical excellence of our software, but also because of the growing definition of what is included in our maintenance package.  Geotech’s maintenance includes the usual items such as technical support and new software versions, but it also includes much more.  Geotech checks in with our software users (by phone or email) at least quarterly, to make sure things are going well with their software use, and to see if they have any questions, and if they do, we connect them with one of our technical folks who helps them resolve their issues.  During these quarterly outreaches, we offer to schedule “update presentations” on our latest features for their Enviro users, and many take advantage of this service.  The most unique and appreciated feature of Geotech’s maintenance package is the use of a small number of the user’s technical support hours for minor software enhancements for their specific project needs.  The Enviro Software is the only environmental database management package that offers such an inclusive maintenance package, at such a reasonable price.

10/3/11 - Geotech Completes Large Data Loading Project

After trying for a while, and challenged by too much to do and staff changes, a big-city office of one of the largest environmental consulting companies turned to Geotech to get their database system up and running.

Geotech did an inventory, and then proceeded to import the data, first the stations and parameters, and then the sample and analysis data. The end result was a database with almost 10,000 stations, 1,000 parameters, and 2,000,000 result records. The project took about two weeks of Geotech staff time. We are now going through a final cleanup, primarily fixing duplicated stations and parameters and setting up station groups, and then the client will be able to use the database to make project decisions, something they have been trying for years to accomplish.

9/29/11 - Ongoing Maintenance Renewals

Five of Geotech’s long-time clients once again renewed their Enviro Software maintenance agreements this month.  Some of these clients have been using our software for over seven years!  We believe that this kind of loyalty is a testimony to Geotech’s technical achievements and customer satisfaction, and the staff at Geotech plan to continue this tradition of enhancing our software and keeping our clients happy.  Thank you to all of our clients for your ongoing business!

9/23/11 - Geotech Adds Two New Clients

Another environmental engineering company has joined the ranks of satisfied Enviro Software users.  This company was founded in 1977, has 120 employees and offices in New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida and California.  They’ve successfully completed over 8,000 projects, which included inspection, design, and management, and they have worked in locations across the United States and also in Cancun and Macau.  Russ Wendell, Geotech’s primary developer, visited their New York office this Fall and trained a group of their employees on the Enviro Software products.  Geotech is pleased to have this company using Enviro Data and Enviro Spase to help them manage the database management aspects of their projects more efficiently and accurately. Also new to the Geotech client list this month is a California Public Utilities Commission.  This organization provides drinking water and wastewater services to a major city in the state.  They will be using our Enviro Software to continue bringing high quality, efficient and reliable water services to their residents, while maintaining a high standard of environmental, community and natural resource interests.  Geotech welcomes them to our growing list of governmental clients.

9/17/11 - Enviro Software Success Story - Montgomery and Associates

Montgomery and Associates is a water-resource consulting firm that has a history of partnering with clients to address their increasing and evolving challenges, including managing their environmental data. With offices in Tucson, the Phoenix area, Santiago de Chile, and Lima, Peru, M&A employs more than 65 professionals who specialize in hydrology, geology, soil science, policy and regulatory affairs, resource economics, GIS analysis, database management, and instrumentation and monitoring. Since opening in 1984, M&A has developed a loyal base of clients that includes mining companies, municipalities, private water companies, government agencies, industrial entities, and tribal groups in the Southwestern U.S. and South America, as well as other parts of the country and the world.

When M&A decided to expand their environmental data management practice, they turned to Geotech Computer Systems, Inc. While two years their junior (having opened in 1986), Geotech is known for their industrial-strength data management and GIS tools, which have been used for years in the environmental consulting, mining, and other fields. The combination of Geotech’s powerful and easy-to-use software, along with M&A’s seasoned consulting and data management staff, has provided a flexible and accessible system for managing water quality and other data, both internally at M&A and through an external interface with their clients. M&A and Geotech look forward to many years of satisfying the data management and access needs of M&A and their clients.

9/8/11 - Another Enviro Data Success Story

One of Geotech’s newest Enviro Data users, Powertech, a uranium mining company headquartered in Denver, sent us the following email after we followed up with them to see how things were going:  “The 2010C version, and especially the Crosstab Wizard, is working well for me.  I generated tables for every station in our database in 19 minutes, 41 seconds.  This is a big improvement over the months of time it used to take using Excel.  Give me a few months to finish this phase of data organization, and then we will need to discuss buying additional Viewer licenses and training.”  Geotech is continuously improving our Enviro software to make data management faster and easier for our clients.

9/2/11 - Enviro Data Graphs Save the Day

The Pueblo of Laguna, one of Geotech’s many Indian Tribe clients, called our technical support team recently saying that the EPA requested to see the Tribe’s data in a graphical format and could we show them how to do this.  With a small amount of instruction, the Tribe created 1,000 graphs in fifteen minutes.  Prior to their purchase of Enviro Data in 2008, the Tribe was making graphs of their data in Excel and it took them months to create 1,000 graphs.  Contrary to this tedious process, the Tribe was able to send graphs of their data to the EPA within a day of their request.  Another happy client and another testimony to the speed and accuracy of Enviro Data.

8/31/11 - Geotech to Attend 27th Annual AEHS Trade Show in Amherst, MA

Once again this year, Geotech will attend and give a presentation at the AEHS Soils, Sediments, Water and Energy conference in Amherst, MA.  The dates for this year’s show are October 17 – 20, 2011.  Dr. Dave Rich, Geotech’s President, will be giving a presentation titled, “Soil Chemistry Data from the Field to the Map - Saving Time and Improving Quality”.  Dave’s presentation is part of an afternoon session held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and moderated by Richard Cartwright of MECX.  Some of the other talks of this session are: “Tapping into Global Site Characterization Opportunities and Challenges using Proven, Rapid, Innovative Solutions” and “Innovative Soils/Sediments Treatment Processing Technologies”.  Geotech will also be sharing a booth with MECX , and will demonstrating  the latest  technologies in its Enviro software family of products.

We hope you will come and see us at this year’s AEHS Trade Show.

8/23/11 - Geotech Holds Enviro Data Training in its Centennial Office

Last month, a major U.S. uranium mining company purchased Geotech’s Enviro software, and this month we hosted their training in our Centennial office.  Employees from our client’s Colorado and South Dakota offices attended the one-day training.  Dave Rich, Geotech’s president showed them how to use the software, load their data, and many other features.  Muffins and coffee were well received during the morning break, and hearty sub sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies made for a perfect lunch.  These new users are now very pleased with their new database management system, and are asking for our help with their specific reporting needs.  Geotech is very happy to add another satisfied client to its Enviro software family.

8/18/11 - Geotech Participates in NAEFC 2012 Conferences

Geotech is pleased to announce its participation in The Nielsen Environmental School 2012 Conferences.  The first conference will be in San Diego, CA, February 7 – 10, and the second conference of the year will be in Tampa, FL, March 13 – 16.  The theme of the 2012 conferences is “Advances & Innovations in Environmental Site Characterization, Sampling, Monitoring and Remediation”.  Each conference will feature one and two hour indoor and outdoor workshops arranged in a short-course format, and will also feature indoor and outdoor exhibits.  The positive response to these conferences has been overwhelming, with many exhibitors and presenters vying for spots well in advance of the scheduled dates.  Some of the presentation titles are: “Sources of and Methods to Reduce Sampling Variability”, “Continuous Monitoring for Benzene at Contaminated Sites”, and “Vapor-Phase Remediation Technologies”.  Dave Rich, Geotech’s President, will be giving a presentation titled, “Managing Environmental Data From the Field to the Map”.

We invite you to join us at The Nielsen Environmental School 2012 Conferences.  We are confident they will be innovative, educational, and enjoyable (can’t beat being in San Diego and Tampa in the middle of the winter!).  We hope to see you there.

8/9/11 - Geotech Hosts Company Party

Maggie Smith’s Irish Pub and Restaurant was the location of a delicious and high-spirited dinner for Geotech’s employees, families and friends.  A relatively new restaurant, located just down the street from Geotech, they regaled us with free appetizers like Curry Chips and Irish sliders, two-for-one drinks such as Guinness Stout and Irish whiskey, and Irish delicacies like Bangers and Mash, and Fish and Chips.  The children enjoyed the digital juke box, while the adults relaxed and enjoyed chatting.    Everyone enjoyed eating.  A great time was had by all, and all agreed to do it again next year.

8/3/11 - Enviro software Users Thrilled with Technical Support/Training

Again in August, Geotech provided many of its clients with additional technical support and training.  Geotech excels over its competitors by always being available to walk a new client through a software feature they’ve never used before, or help an established client train a new employee on our Enviro software.  This month, we provided Enviro software support and training to three of the largest environmental consulting and data quality companies in the U.S.  One of these companies is setting up our software system for 200 of their employees.  Two of Geotech’s Indian tribe clients, one in New Mexico and one in New York, received software support and data loading assistance.  All of these clients were thrilled with the depth of knowledge, availability, and quick response of the Geotech technical team.

7/30/11 - Uranium company purchases Enviro software

Earlier this month while on a road trip to Wyoming, Dave Rich, Geotech’s president paid a visit to an up-and-coming uranium company that was looking for a software solution to help them manage their data.  After Dave’s visit, this company looked at several software options, including Geotech’s, for handling their data and decided that the Enviro software would best suit their specific technical needs.  Technical training for this new client will be held at Geotech’s office later this month. We are proud to welcome this company to the Enviro family of users.

7/22/11 - Mike Wiley loses his battle

It is with great sadness that we relay to you that our dear friend and co-worker, Mike Wiley, lost his battle with COPD last night.  Geotech first met Mike in 1987, when both were dealers for the CPS/PC software from Radian Corp., headquartered in Austin.  Mike then became a dealer for Geotech’s Petro Spase product, a tool for data management and mapping for oil exploration.  Mike took over the development of this product.  In 2000, Geotech switched its focus from petroleum to environmental, and created our Enviro Spase product.  Mike was responsible for development and support of this product, and did the programming for the majority of the software functionality for the last eleven years.  Enviro Spase is Geotech’s second best selling product.  We visited with Mike as often as possible, both in Texas and Colorado, for both business and personal interaction.  We looked forward to our standing Friday afternoon phone calls with Mike.  He had a great sense of humor and a deep knowledge of the earth sciences.  We will miss him greatly.  Vaya con Dios, Mike.

7/21/11 - Another Longtime Happy Enviro User Found

An Enviro Data user that purchased our software back in 2002, called Geotech today saying he had just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and needed to upgrade his Enviro software.  He had been successfully using version 1.5c for nine years!  Geotech told him that for the cost of a reinstatement fee plus maintenance, we would update his two databases to Enviro Data 2010, send him the latest version of the software, and provide him with technical support and software upgrades.  Needless to say, he agreed.  A glowing testimony to the ease of use and reliability of our software, and the outstanding support of the Geotech team!

7/15/11 - Another  Indian Tribe Purchases the Enviro Software

One of the largest Indian reservations in the United States purchased Geotech's Enviro software this month. After attending a presentation given by Dr. Rich at the Field Days hosted by our friends Geotech Environmental Equipment, one of the tribal members was very interested in using our software to help the tribe manage their environmetal issues, which include rural, urban and industrial impacts. Geotech did an on-site presentation and they bought a multi-user system on the spot! Their technical users will attend a software training next month at Geotech's Denver office.

7/12 - 7/13/11 - New Client Training in Wyoming

Dave Rich, Geotech’s president, made a road trip to Wyoming this month, to visit current and prospective clients.  His first stop was Gillette, WY, where he did Enviro software training for a client that produces subbituminous coal.  Dave did a two-day training for six employees at this location.  With over 1,500 employees, this company is widely recognized for exemplary performance in its safety and environmental programs.  Geotech is proud that they have chosen the Enviro software to help them maintain their excellent reputation.  Dave’s second stop of his trip was a visit to a Lab to discuss possible cooperation in helping each other’s clients.  Dave’s final stop on this trip was a visit to a rapidly growing uranium company that was interested in using the Enviro software.  Dave did a demo of the software for their technical team, and impressed them with how well the Enviro software would work with the data they produced for the U.S. nuclear power industry.

7/8/11 - Oake Ridge Work Continues

As Oak Ridge National Labs in Tennessee proceeds with their Enviro Data implementation, they are finding additional ways that it can help them manage their biological data, including morphological, blood, and chemical information on biological specimens, as well as species population census data. Geotech is working with ORNL staff to provide technology to streamline their data capture and entry process prior to importing the data into Enviro Data.

7/3/11 - Number of Maintenance Renewals Continues to Rise

Once again this month, a large number of our Enviro software clients showed their satisfaction with our software by renewing their maintenance.  Some renewals are from new clients, but many are from clients of ten or more years.  We get comments like, “Thank you for always being there when we call, and for helping us when we’re stuck”, and “We appreciate that you let us use some of our support hours for technical training over the phone”.  At Geotech, our mission is to help our clients manage their data more efficiently and profitably.

6/27/11 - Geotech attends Annual ITEC Conference

Mike Rich traveled to Tulsa, OK, June 27 – 29 to attend the Inter-Tribal Environmental Conference again this year.  Mike has met many wonderful people at this show over the years, and was glad to visit with them again to let them know about all the new features in the Enviro software.  Many attendees were tribal members, and were very interested in Geotech’s new WQX format, new to the software this year.  The WQX format will greatly help these folks satisfy their contractual requirement to provide their data to the USEPA.

6/23/11 - GEE Annual Field Days

Once again this year, Geotech attended Geotech Environmental Equipment’s “Field Days” trade show.  Geotech’s Sales Director, Mike Rich, manned the booth for the two day show, and talked to many local and regional environmental folks.  Dave Rich, President, gave a talk on Friday morning titled, “Managing Environmental Data from the Field to the Map.”  One attendee of his talk was a member of a large Indian tribe, and is now in the process of purchasing our Enviro software.

6/21/11 - New Type of Enviro software Client

During the 25 years of Geotech’s history, most of our clients have been companies that buy the Enviro software for their employees to use on company projects.  This month we learned that individuals within companies are realizing that the Enviro software is more than just a company solution.  This month we sold our software to someone who works for a large company that was not ready to purchase our software, so the individual bought the software with his own money and will use it on his company’s project.   After seeing how our software works, and trying it for himself, he realized that he, and his project, would be far more successful if he used Enviro Data, than if he didn’t.  He hopes his company will see the excellent results of his work and reimburse him for the software or buy the software themselves, but if not, he says his final work product will always be better because of the software, and that’s enough for him.

6/17/11 - Additional Work for Oak Ridge National Lab

Oak Ridge National Lab has once again contracted with Geotech to make more significant enhancements in our Enviro software to accommodate their biological data.  ORNL has a long and proud history of managing their environmental data, and a combination of the robust Enviro Data structure with their previously designed structure for taxonomy, tissue samples, and biocensus data, will make a very strong solution for anyone needing to work with biological data.

6/14/11 - Mike Wiley “On the Mend”

The “Coyote”, as many of Mike’s friends refer to him, has been working very hard the last few months, on gaining his strength back, in preparation for moving back into his own home at the end of July.  He’s enjoying all the cards, calls and visits he’s receiving from his friends and work associates, and is looking forward to using his GIS skills to continue improving Geotech’s Enviro Spase product.  It certainly beats blood pressure cuffs, midnight meds, and doctor’s visits.  We’re pulling for you, Mike!

6/13/11 - Maintenance Renewals a Testimony to Great Software and Service

Geotech’s Enviro software maintenance renewals are increasing every year, with nine renewals this month alone, many for multiple licenses.  At Geotech, we not only want you to have the best environmental data management software on the market, but we develop a working relationship with all of our clients by providing them with individualized technical support, frequent software upgrades, and enhancements customized to their individual needs.   All of this personalized service is included in every maintenance renewal we sell.  It’s no wonder our Enviro maintenance renewals grow larger every year.

6/10/11 - Geotech Helps Clients Overcome Data Hurdles

We have found that in the process of helping some of our clients get Enviro Data going, that they often face difficult challenges in working with their existing data, and may have other problems as well. They may be moving data from a competing product like Terrabase or EQuIS, an outdated in-house system, or have data in spreadsheets with challenging layouts. While having Geotech provide training on the use of the Enviro software can be a big help, we have found an additional method that has really helped. We arrange with the client to have regular meetings, usually every week or two for a while, and we move them along in the process in each meeting. One client, a big-city office of a large consulting company, had a combination of data conversion problems, staff turnover, and a very complicated project. Over a period of several months we met regularly via phone and WebEx, and they now have most of their data converted and the software configured to suit their project needs.

6/9/11 - More New Enviro Data Features

At Geotech, we are always listening to our clients’ needs, and adding features that make their data management projects easier, faster and more accurate.  This month, we added three new features to Enviro Data: Florida ADaPT, and EPA WQX imports and exports, and an EQuIS export format.  If you have any features that you would like to see added to the Enviro software, please email us at support@geotech.com, and let us know what they are.  We’re building our software to better fit your needs!

6/6/11 - Geotech trains another new client on Enviro Data

5/13/11 - Enviro software maintenance renewals continue to grow

The number of Enviro software maintenance renewals is the largest in Geotech’s 25-year history!  In just the first five months of this year, Geotech has renewed Enviro Data and Enviro Spase maintenances for: major metals mining companies, several regional environmental consulting companies, a large regional petroleum refinery, state and county governments, several national and regional analytical laboratories, several national environmental companies, and a multi-national petroleum exploration and production company.  Geotech believes that these maintenance renewals are a testimony to the power, flexibility and ease of use of our software and services, and prove that our clients are improving the quality of their work while saving time and money.  A number of these clients have been using our software for over ten years!

Geotech continues to conduct many client-site training sessions for our Enviro software clients.  A few of these trainings include: an environmental engineering company in Colorado, an environmental consulting and chemistry company in Virginia, a national laboratory in Tennessee, and a coal mining company in Wyoming.  Geotech believes that good technical training and ongoing support make for very satisfied clients.

3/31/11 - Another New Enviro Software Client

A coal company is the latest addition to Geotech’s growing list of happy Enviro software users.  Located in Wyoming, this client operates coal mines in Wyoming and Montana, and is one of the safest coal producers in the nation.  With approximately 1,500 employees, this company is recognized for its exemplary performance in its safety and environmental programs.  Geotech’s Enviro software will be used by this client to manage their soil and groundwater data, and for their regulatory reporting requirements.

3/22/11 - Geotech Attends International Trade Show

On March 22 - 24, Geotech attended Americana 2011, the International Environmental Technology Trade Show and Conference, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Over 50 countries were represented in the 8,000 participants and 350 exhibitors.  Besides meeting many new folks on the trade show floor, Mike Rich, Geotech’s Sales Director attended the Saskatchewan Businesses Networking Meeting, and had thirteen one-on-one meetings with environmental companies and government agencies.  Many new leads and possible partnerships were generated from these meetings.  This is the second International Trade Show that was organized by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, and which Geotech participated in.

2/15/11 - Geotech Expands Activity and Clients in Alternative Energy

Alternative energy sources can be a great contributor to the energy economy. Geotech has been involved in one aspect of this, coalbed methane. With this energy source, wells are drilled into subsurface coal seams, and the natural gas is produced. With the gas production often comes a lot of water, and there is a concern whether the drilling might impact nearby water supply wells. For one client, a major multinational oil and gas company operating in Southwest Colorado, Geotech provided our Enviro Data and Enviro Spase software to manage the water quality data from the neighbor’s water wells, both before and after the gas wells were drilled. Geotech then worked with the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to make it easy for the client to submit their data to the state.   In another coalbed methane area, the Power River Basin of northeastern Wyoming, clients use Enviro Data to manage and map their data and create reports for the state. One well-known coalbed methane consulting company has been using Enviro Data with a SQL Server back-end to manage their clients’ water data for over ten years, and two of the largest operators in the basin depend on Enviro Data to manage their lab and flow data and create files in the specialized format, called eDMR2, required by the state.

1/17/11 - Geotech Expands Relationship with CO-EXist

Geotech is continuing its ongoing partnership with CO-EXist, a Colorado organization for the Export of Innovative and Sustainable Technologies in the environmental industry.  In the next few months, CO-EXist will be hosting meetings in Colorado between environmental companies from Mexico and Colorado.  Geotech’s software was well-received at the Green Expo in Mexico last fall, and plans to attend this CO-EXist winter meeting to further expand our product into the Mexican market.  Geotech is also discussing plans to attend the CIEPEC 2011 Expo and Conference in China this summer, sponsored by CO-EXist.
